I remember when growing up, I never ever saw either of my parents’ cry. I was brought up to not show your emotions.

If I fell and hurt myself my Mum would wash it and put a plaster on the graze and say “You’ll be ok”

I cried because I was bullied at school.

I cried when my Dad would have violent outbursts.

I cried if I saw an animal hurt or die (I grew up on a dairy farm in the UK)

I cried when I was something sad or violent on TV.

The problem was, I cried alone in my room. I would keep it all inside and let it out later.

In relationships, if I ever cried, I was told “You are too sensitive and need to toughen up”

Inevitably over the years, I learnt to hold all the emotional pain inside and never ever let anyone see me cry.

I began to see crying as:

❌ Weak
❌ Not in control
❌ Childish
❌ Immature

Crying releases the chemicals oxytocin and endorphins, which makes you feel good. A kind of pain release both physically and emotionally, allowing a sense of wellbeing.
Research shows that, on average, women cry between 30 and 64 times a year (up to five times a month), 5 to 17 times per year for men.
Of course these numbers are significantly higher, if you are an Empath.

I am the total Empath, if you know anything about astrology, all of my planets are in the emotional house, meaning I am ULTRA sensitive. I FEEL others emotional pain, as well as my own, which can be overwhelming unless you learn to protect yourself.

If you are an Empath who is on a path to grow your spirituality and intuition. You will find that you become more sensitive as you age. As your heart opens, the more sensitive you become.

So never be embarrassed or feel you must apologise about crying. It is a totally natural way of expressing, feeling and releasing.
