Do you know how powerful your brain is?
Do you know how powerful your brain is?
You have the power to change your brain!
Our brain thinks it is in control and if you leave it to its own device, then yes it will control your thinking, everything you see, feel, experience and ultimately shape your life. Based on your past experiences, your belief systems and all the information it has stored up until this moment in your life.
Billions of brain cells (neurons) are working all the time, while we sleep, eat, feel, learn etc. When we have any type of experience the relevant neurons will switch on, creating connections in the brain, making it stronger and stronger in our mind. Now if we have many of these experiences this part of the brain becomes stronger.
If your life is not how you want it to be, the great news is you CAN change your brain.
But the key is repetition and consistency to create any radical difference. This creates a new pattern, or what we call creating new neural pathways.
If you are thinking or doing something in a negative way – you break the pattern and create a more positive way of thinking or doing whatever. This will then create and strengthen a different, more productive way.
Do this every time you want to be, say, think or speak in a more positive way and with repeated attempts, your brain will slowly begin to change its ways.
If you wallow in stress, worry, fear, regret, self-criticism, emotional pain and guilt, these feelings and thoughts will shape your brain. You will take on worry, depression, anxiety, and move more towards these negative traits every time a problem arises.
Notice the good in everyday life, when all you want to do is notice the negative!
Let your mind stay with these feelings. Hold it in your mind for a few seconds. This is time enough to hardware the feelings into your brain. It fires the neurons and strengthens all connections to create the experience.
The more you start to do this, it begins to grow and allows your brain to notice the good, see the bad for what it is and move forward, rather than continually staying stuck.
